Our lesson in Sunday School was on Job today. We can all learn a lot from him. He was given many blessings and he was very rich. Even though he prospered, he still recognized where his blessings came from - the Lord. When he lost everything he had - his home, land, flocks, children, friends, etc. he just said - "The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away". He turned to Heavenly Father in his trials and said that until the day he died he would not lose his integrity. How many of us can do the same? When we are given thorns and weeds and trials to hamper our progress, do we just focus on the bad and forget the good? Is there anything we can learn from our trials? Can we look forward with faith and hope for better things to come? I saw this beautiful purple fuzzy "flower" on my 4-wheeler ride up the canyon. By focusing just on it and not the rest of the plant, I think it looks beautiful. If you look at the whole trial and are just focusing on the trial part, it looks pretty ugly (see the weed below). If, however, you can focus on the good and remember the blessings you have been give, things will look much better. I hope I can remember to constantly look for the good. If we don't look for the good, chances are that we will never find anything to be happy about.

Finding Blessings During Trials

I really appreciate you commentary Becky. Very good point. I REALLY like the top photo that you took, and you're right, you would never know that something so beautiful can come from thorns and thistles. You're becoming quite the thought-provoking flower photographer! Maybe you could write and inspirational thought book based on flowers and lessons learned in life.
ReplyDeletethe canadian thisle has always been pretty to me. Rilla and I each took a bunch of these thisle in boquets to the county fair one year. Onee of us even got a ribbon on it. It seems like we took the same path on the 4 wheeler as I got a lot of the same pictures, but I erased a lot of them. Ach well, I can take them again sometime. Our trials are supposed to make us stronger so I hope we are up to this one.
ReplyDeleteMom & Dad - just remember not to give up. Look forward in faith to the future whatever it might bring. We are all here to help each other through the trials of life. I will help with whatever I can. I love you all very much!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the encouraging words Kendra. I appreciate your good attitude and support as well. You are AMAZING!!!
