Wednesday 1/25

Wednesday afternoon I decided to attempt the GFCI plugs
to go in the bathrooms.  The one downstairs was no big deal and
it worked the first time.  The one upstairs, however was a big pain.
We worked on it for about 3 hours or more and tried every wiring
combination you could imagine.  We even color coded the 3 white
wires to blue, pink, and purple.  Mom kept track of every possible
combination, Dad waited to turn the power on and off and I got to
change the wires around.  Nothing worked!  We finally got one where
the fan worked but the lights never did so we had to call Steve Webster
to come help us again.  He figured out that there were 2 extra
white wires that didn't need to be connected to the GFCI at all.
He locked them away with a wire nut and hooked everything else
back up and it worked!  We were so excited to get lights back
in the bathroom again.  I am glad these 2 plugs are done!

  1. I second that. It has been a tough go for you and Dad.
