I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day
Their old familiar carols play,
And wild and sweet the words repeat
Of peace on earth, good will to men.
I thought how, as the day had come,
The belfries of all Christendom
Had rolled along the unbroken song
Of peace on earth, good will to men.
And in despair I bowed my head:
"There is no peace on earth," I said,
"For hate is strong and mocks the song
Of peace on earth, good will to men."
Then pealed the bells more loud and deep:
"God is not dead, nor doth he sleep;
The wrong shall fail, the right prevail,
With peace on earth, good will to men."
Till, ringing singing, on its way,
The world revolved from night to day,
A voice, a chime, a chant sublime,
Of peace on earth, good will to men!
Here are some of the preschoolers decorating our class Christmas tree.
Here is one of the kids just staring at the tree when it was done.
Notice all the bells - most branches have 2 or 3 ornaments on them.
They did a great job - I wonder what the world will be like when they are grown up?
Will there be peace on earth?
If not, I hope they will still have "good will to men" - as we all should.
Kids love to decorate Christmas trees. At least for a little while they can still believe in the simple things.
ReplyDeleteGood thoughts. I often wonder what kind of a world my kids will be growing in.
ReplyDeleteHopefully it will be better because of us!
