Yellowstone National Park

We saw a herd of elk on our trip.  rod had to get a closer look at them and then they all stood up and we had quite a crowd stopped to see them.  Cade wanted to be closer with his Dad but the others hung back a little.

This is the waterfalls by Firehole.

We stopped and had lunch and watched a film here at the new visitor's center while we waited for Old Faithful to go off again - we just missed it as we pulled up so we waited a while.

Landon, Elise, and Cade thought Old Faithful was a very cool geyser.

We saw a large herd of buffalo that were pretty close.  Elise was happy to sit in the pickup.  Derek, Cade, and I got in the back of the pickup to try to get some closer shots.   Cade said he had never seen so much poop in his life.  They both enjoyed making animal sound on the drive - Cade was a Coyote and Elise has a pretty decent elk bugle.  You will have to get them to tell you about the invisible herd of elk that followed us through the park.

I went with Elise by the overlook to this waterfall while the others went on ahead.

We caught up and they enjoyed looking over the edge.  It was a chilly day but it was beautiful.

Cade enjoyed sitting in the back seat with Grandma and I.

While Landon had to sit with Derek and Grandpa up front.

They took turnw with Elise and they each had a list of animals to check off as we saw them.

Cade managed to see animals that no one else could see so I think he got the most animals.

It was a great day and I am really glad that we got to have Elise, Cade, and Landon all take turns riding with us.  It was their first time through the park and it was fun to see the park through their eyes.  Thanks Shanell and Rod for sharing your time with us.  It was a wonderful day!

  1. I second that Becky. We need to take advantage of the Park being so close and going more often. So all of the rest of the family take heed.

  3. Wish we could have been there with you all! My kids tend to notice the high amounts of poop wherever we end up going to. How funny!
